My Life Is a Movie is a docuseries where I navigate job, food, and housing insecurity in NYC. I learn to navigate circumstances while protecting myself from predatory men and all of the injustices I face. With the belief in myself and my use of spirituality, miracles have happened in real-time.
My MacBook Pro recently gave out (black screen), so production on my docuseries has been delayed. This damage was the result of an assault that happened in my home by a racist ex-neighbor named Micaela J. Merritt in 2022. I have video and audio documentation, as well as witness accounts and injuries sustained to support this event. I have decided to include some of the supportive documentation and the mugshot of the assailant (unrelated to my assault) here.
Unfortunately, despite these facts, justice was not served that night thanks to the failure of the 81st precinct. Though there was visible damage sustained to this laptop, this was an unforeseen setback because the laptop was still going strong. Due to this, I've been inspired to revisit the judgment I won when I took her to court. I am currently not in the best financial position to seek my judgment or replace my laptop immediately, so I am asking for your help. This experience (while traumatic) only affirms why I'm telling my story and building this series, as this will be included in it, as well as a shocking update.
Note: I do have access to an older iMac from 2015, but it's extremely limited in performance and only supports light browsing at this point. It's not capable of handling the heavy editing and creative production work needed for my docuseries. That's why replacing my damaged laptop is a necessary step to move forward.
If you feel called to support this project and bring it to life faster, I have a donation link available here, or you can donate to my PayPal: hello@lasonta.com or my CashApp: $LasontaBynoe. Any amount is deeply appreciated. I am planning to buy a refurbished, vintage MacBook Pro (same model or slightly better), which should cost under $700. I'm sharing this to be transparent. I'm not looking for an extravagant upgrade, just something reliable yet powerful for all of my editing work and creative storytelling. Thank you so much for being part of the journey.
With gratitude,
Lasonta
